FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - FEBRUARY 1, 2022
JOE LANDINI DANCE ANNOUNCES THE WORLD PREMIERE OF CITY OF GHOSTS IN SAN FRANCISCO MARCH 18-20, 2022
All performances taking place at ODC Theater in San Francisco
SAN FRANCISCO (JANUARY 1, 2022) – Today, Joe Landini Dance announced the world premiere of City of Ghosts will take place at ODC Theater in San Francisco March 18-20, 2022.
“I’m thrilled to launch the world premiere of City of Ghosts in San Francisco, as it really is a reflection of the thirty years I’ve lived here,” said Joe Landini, artistic director, choreographer and founder of Joe Landini Dance.
City of Ghosts guides audiences through a meditation on loss and fractured memories - a reflection of how gentrification, change and death, are a part of civic life. The athletic movement in City of Ghosts itself was inspired by resilience, adaption, and evolution.
"I'm fascinated with how unreliable memory is and how quickly cities change. I'm constantly trying to keep up with the changes but trapped by how I remember them,” noted Landini.
City of Ghosts also features guest artists Amy Lewis, Francesca Cipponeri, A Pulso Dance Project, Raven Malouf-Renning and Rebekah Enderle.

In conjunction with the premiere, Joe Landini Dance will be hosting a PERFORMANCE INTENSIVE, offering adult performers (18+) an opportunity to work with Joe Landini and his collaborators to generate performance material. Improvisation, ritual and performance all collide in an unruly workshop that excavates memory and sends it on a collision course with performance. Participants will have the opportunity to develop solo material or direct small groups, using text as a starting point and physical movement to explore themes like alienation, community, isolation, rebirth and reckoning. Participants will have the optional opportunity to perform with the company on March 20th. Registration is $100 with partial scholarships also available.
Workshop dates are as follow:
Tuesday, March 15 | 6:00 PM - 10:00 PM
